Merchandise trade data is sourced from Statistics Canada's Canadian International Merchandise Trade database (Table 12-10-0011-01). Data was compiled using automated processes and may contain errors. Contact us if you notice any errors.

Coverage

1990–2026 (monthly granularity), 200+ trading partners, 10 Canadian provinces. Exports use HS8 classification, imports use HS10. The Harmonized System (HS) hierarchy has four levels: Chapter (2-digit, 99 total), Heading (4-digit, ~1,200), Subheading (6-digit, ~5,000), and Commodity (8/10-digit, ~10,000).

Currency & Methodology

All values are in current Canadian dollars (nominal, not inflation-adjusted). Trade is measured on a customs basis.
